Fourteen rooms on Lustrafjorden
Halden
A sauna on the water, a table for twenty, and the fjord as your cold plunge.
The sauna
The fjord is the cold plunge.
A wood-fired sauna at the end of our jetty. Sit until you can’t, take the ladder down, and let Lustrafjorden do the rest: about four degrees in March, nearer fifteen by August.
- Fire lit every afternoon at four
- Wool robes in every room
- The ladder goes straight into the fjord
The rooms
Fourteen rooms, one fjord.
Pine floors, wool blankets and windowsills deep enough to sit in. Nothing on the walls competes with the view.
-

The table
Twenty seats, one farm.
One long table and one sitting, at half past seven. The farm next door writes the menu: lamb from the hill pasture, trout, rhubarb, then strawberries, then apples.
- Dinner Tuesday to Sunday
- House guests first, the valley when seats allow
- Tell us about allergies when you book
The season
June has no night.
At 61° north the June sun only just slips behind the mountains, and the sky never gets fully dark. We open on the first of March, with snow still down to the water, and close at the end of November, when the sauna matters most.
